Speaker 1:

This is your Healing Oasis.

Speaker 2:

We're four friends that come together to share our stories, talents, experiences and insight From inside the world of holistic healing we share our real-world point of view.

Speaker 4:

Hi and welcome to episode two today of the Healing Oasis. I'm Mindy and I'm here today with my co-hosts Allison hey, linda Hello, and Bethany, hello everybody. So, from wherever you are, listening from greetings, and so today's show is on intuitive healing. I'm convinced every day that we have more power to heal than we have been led to believe. I'm reminded of the phrase if you can believe it, you can achieve it. You know, the best example I can think of that everyone will understand what I'm talking about is the placebo effect. You know, when drug companies do the trials on new medicine, establishing a drug's efficacy rate, they bring, say, 200 people and put them into two groups. Each group believes they are getting the newly developed drug that will possibly cure them, but one group is actually getting a placebo. That's the fascinating part to me and to the point of our show today is that the number of people who get well in the placebo group just from believing that what they took is working. These trials are documented and you know, of course, they cover everything from cancer to heart disease. So what does that say about the power of our minds? That's what we're going to be exploring today and I did find some cool information from watching a documentary HEAL. I really was brought into more of getting to the you know kind of the nuts and bolts of what does that look like and does the mind really have the power to heal the body? And I think you'll all agree with me that, yes, the mind absolutely has the power to heal the body without the assistance of pills. Now, I'm not saying everybody just dropped their prescriptions right away, because clearly you know we're all on a medical path for a reason or you know if you're taking anything. But what I found was what the most interesting things when kind of digging into this topic was letting go of emotional pain and trauma and how that has powerful healing effects on the body. And having been a product of that myself, I can tell you that that is very real and I'm sure a lot of you listening have experienced that to some degree yourselves.

Speaker 4:

So, aside from my own personal experiences with this, there are thousands of documented cases where cancer patients, from pancreatic to stage 4 lymphoma, have recovered and remain cancer-free. In the study that I researched for today's show, they looked at a thousand cases where the prognosis was terminal. Yet the patient recovered and is today cancer-free. So the purpose of the study was to determine what these patients did differently, and when they were looking at what they did differently, they found like 75 unique behaviors. But when only looking at the common denominators among the thousand cases, there were only nine. And here they are One, radically changing your diet.

Speaker 4:

Two, taking control of your health. Three, following your intuition. Four, using herbs and supplements. Five, releasing suppressed emotions. Six, increasing positive emotions. Seven, embracing social support. Eight, deepening your spiritual connection and finally, nine, to have a strong reason to live. Wow, so, yeah, right, the study that I studied today, I think, is so interesting. So here's my quote, and then I want to open it up to discussion with you guys. Your body loves you and loves you unconditionally, and it's not letting you down. So have patience, have compassion, take it one day at a time and you're going to get there.

Speaker 4:

It doesn't matter how long you've been sick, you can heal. That's a quote from Mark Emerson, who is a chronic disease expert, and I just found his quote inspiring and hopeful because it's those of us whether it's Crohn's disease or could be fibromyalgia, but you know, those chronic conditions that interfere with our everyday lives and there's hope. That's why I picked that quote, so I'm opening it up to you guys.

First of all, I love the nine common denominators that were found, especially with, of course, changing your diet, because I'm a big proponent of that. Those were amazing.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I found that those nine common denominators, really, if we take them and we remove the word common denominators and replace them with tools or giving yourself the power to heal, that's it.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I can make the tool box.

Speaker 4:

Yes, yes, yes, here's the tool box here at the Healing Oasis. What have we done? We have created your self-care toolbox and these are nine things that need to go in there. They're very powerful. I find it really interesting in talking about the one point of intuition. Linda yes, I know that you did. Linda is our intuitive medium. She is also a neurologist. I asked her to look into this intuitive healing and what her thoughts were. This is what I'm going to. Let you take it away, because I thought you really came up with an interesting point.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I do believe our intuition can guide us to what our body needs for healing. Oh thanks, mindy. That was great information about the mind and what we believe definitely influences our health and well-being. I truly believe that I have found that quieting the mind through breathing or meditation can give you access to the body's a huge amount of information that it has. Bethany and I recently began to study medical intuition, which can also be called intuitive physical assessment. Actually, we prefer that name for it. It's simply the idea of tuning into your own body or others to sense colors, words, pictures or any sensations that may have direct message in assisting to understand just what the body needs for its own healing. Medical intuitives I do want to state this strongly do not diagnose in any way. They simply relay the information they receive to their client.

Speaker 2:

I recently had my own experience with this, which I found fascinating. I allowed myself to go into a light meditative state and, in my imagination, reviewed all the areas of my body. When I reached my upper stomach, I asked what it needs for healing, as I've dealt with acid reflux for years. When I got back, I really never expected. I first had the word pineapple, then papaya popped into my head and I thought, well, it's one or it's the other, but then I realized it was both.

Speaker 2:

Not too long after that, I mentioned it to Bethany, with her background in nutrition. She said oh, they contain the enzymes bromelain and papain, which greatly assist with digestion. Well, that made sense to me, although I was quite shocked we both were that I got what the body needed. So now I take a supplement, which she recommended, that contains both, and I am improving. That's very exciting. I've also asked my body about my needs, since I have arthritis in both, and what I received there was I need more strengthening exercises for the muscles around my knees, and that's pretty simple to do. So this message also came into my mind as words.

Speaker 4:

I love that. Yeah, that's interesting, absolutely.

Speaker 2:

So I will be practicing this self analysis of the body to see what other places I have, with aches and pains, what they need, and it's very exciting to do this.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and you know I'm sorry to interrupt, mindy, but I won't get into my story. But Linda knows I've been working as well and I've got my own. I've been working too with listening to my body and it is very interesting. It's sometimes things don't make sense right away, but if you're patient, they it does come to. If you just sit with it it'll start to make sense. So I just wanted to reiterate Linda's story because it's the mind is amazing, the body is amazing, the intuition we receive is amazing and it's just, it's just awesome.

Speaker 4:

It really is. And you know, Linda, to your point, I think you had done, didn't you do some extra research? That really validated your point as well.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I have, and that's that, to me, is exciting part is to have the data. That shows what the research has and that's it's more concrete. It proves the accuracy of medical intuition to provide information for the healthcare practitioners to assist in the diagnosis of illness and disease. One study was conducted conducted by a medical intuition practitioner Her name is Wendy Coulter and she did this study in 2019, and she called it Assessing the Accuracy of Medical Intuition a subjective and exploratory study, and it was published in the Journal of Alternative and Complimentary Medicine.

Speaker 2:

The study was about 67 self-selected patients at a California hospital and they allowed five professional medical intuitives to scan their bodies for any information they may pick up. It could be sounds, it could be, it could be even as oddly as smells or any words that may pop into their head or pictures. The five intuitives had no prior knowledge of the 67 subjects and the results were quite impressive, with 94% of the participants they said the accuracy of the physical issues given by the intuitives was correct. I thought that was pretty astounding. They all stated they would recommend medical intuition to others.

Speaker 4:

Wow, that I I mean. It is fascinating. It's also refreshing, right, that more of this information is getting out there. So we all agreed that for each of us, we would come up with a quote that kind of sums up what we were contributing to today's show. And, Linda, what's yours?

Speaker 2:

Well, the intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness call it intuition or what you will and the solution comes to you, and you don't know how or why. That is a direct quote from Albert Einstein, who directly used his intuition in everything he did. He uses imagination and intuition to come up with his theories.

Speaker 4:

Oh, so many powerful quotes from such a brilliant mind of our, of, of, of thank God, a time that we can refer to now and learn from still.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and I realized he used his intuition. That's not something that's openly shared. When they talk about what all of Albert Einstein's you know discoveries and inventions no one talks about that he used his intuition.

Speaker 1:

No, very little. Well, that's not something that that we do hear about until the last, I don't know, 10, 15 years, and you can see it more and more around us and things you pick up in social media and everything You're starting to see it all around us. People are starting to distrust medicine and take care of it more on our own. Yes, and you've always known, I've known this forever. My mother used to tell me you are your best advocate. You do not. Everything is up to you. You have to be able to pay attention and read yourself and what your own needs are, and keep pursuing it until you figure out what to do, because you do have to figure it out yourself and do Allison you are the expert on your life.

Speaker 3:

You, you know each, each of us is our own expert on our life.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 4:

You know that that could not be more true. And I have to tell you guys, there was a time when my I was eating processed foods and they were not agreeing with me, and I started to look, you know, just open up your medicine cabinet, take a look. Are you taking a probiotic every day? Why Are you taking um antacids? Are you, you know, are you trying to remedy the symptoms of what is going on inside your body? And how are you doing it? And really asking ourselves, are you following your intuition? Because what I instantly realized is anytime I was eating whole foods, berries and, you know, my, my fruits, and what do they call it Shopping around the edges of the grocery store rather than into the center, right, but I felt, I felt better and I didn't need the probiotic. And I didn't need, you know, because my body was getting exactly what it needed. And we have to remember that our intuition is stronger than the chemicals that they're putting in the processed food, that are trying to indicate to our brains oh, my God, I want to chip so badly, yeah, okay, so that might be true, you do, but if you're listening to what you need, you're probably grabbing the blackberries or the raspberries, or the blueberries or the strawberries or bananas or whatever, but it's something to think about. What is my whole food alternative to my craving right now? Yeah, and yeah, right, I mean that's that. That, that to me, and and it goes back to following your intuition and getting back to this healthier us right, and all four of us have experienced that I mean that's, I know, one of the reasons we decided to do this whole show and call it the healing oasis. So you know, and I just I find it absolutely fascinating and there's obviously other things that you can do, not just change your diet. So you know that One of the things that really fascinates me is meditation.

Speaker 4:

Everybody talks about it. Linda talked about it and the things that she was talking about discovering, I know, when I was doing the research and had watched that movie Heel. I've also read a bunch of books and you talk about people like Joe Desbenda and whatever, and they all talk about meditation. I'm going to open up with that, bethany. I know that you did some incredible research on this. Bethany, for those of you who may not know, is a doctor of naturopathies. She can tell you about the rest of her awesome credentials. There's a lot of alphabets, but anyway, I'm going to let you take it from here.

Speaker 3:

Thanks, mindy, I appreciate that. I appreciated you letting me touch on this topic because, as you know, I have been very interested in Dr Daniel Amen when I went through the course of becoming what he calls a licensed brain trainer, but it was so interesting and eye-opening Understanding the power of meditation and how it influences our immune system. I appreciate you letting me touch on this topic. I'd actually like to start with a quick story about meditation and how it truly shows the power it has on our mind, body and spirit. Dr Daniel Amen has scanned several religious leaders before during deep prayer and meditation and found that the common theme was that they had an overall enhancement of prefrontal cortex activity. This means that the brain became more focused, with decreased activity in the interior cingulate, the basal ganglia and the limbic system. So what that did is it actually created a brain that is calmer, less anxious, more relaxed and more positive, and it created a state where we are calm and positive, which is essential to not only mental and emotional well-being, but also physical health and wellness.

Speaker 3:

Meditation is a practice that has been associated with various health benefits, including potential positive effects on the immune system, and I think many are familiar with Dr Joe Dispenza in the books and workshops he's done that explore the potential of meditation and mindfulness practice to positively impact various aspects of human health and well-being, but that the including of the immunity and this has fascinated me because we know that when we meditate we feel calm, it sets a nice positive tone, but what we're learning is that it literally impacts our immune system. So we know that many of us get sick during the holidays because we're under additional stress and I guess you guys have probably all experienced that you get sick during Christmas or Thanksgiving during those times. But what we know is chronic stress is known to weaken the immune system, making the body more susceptible to infections and illnesses. And according to Dr Daniel Amon, one of the primary ways meditation may impact the immune system is through stress reduction. When you meditate, your body's stress response, the fight or flight response, is calmed and then we have the production of the stress hormone like cortisol. It actually decreases and this can in turn help support a healthier immune system.

Speaker 3:

Meditation techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, guided imagery and progressive muscle relaxation have been shown to reduce stress levels. Lower stress levels in turn may help support a healthier immune response and in fact Dr Joe Dispenza suggests that our thoughts and emotions can have a significant impact on our physical health, and he's a proponent of meditation and visualization techniques that can help individuals create positive mental states that promote better physical health, including a stronger immune response. Dr Amon teaches that meditation is known to promote mental well-being, which can indirectly benefit the immune system, and, interestingly, positive emotions and a strong sense of well-being are associated with immune function. So I want to stop there and take a take a breath if you guys have anything to add or any thoughts.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so I love that Allison. I know that you've had some experience with this personally.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I've had several experiences. I learned about meditation and how to use that to heal. One of the things I healed was a shoulder. I damaged it, I don't even know how. Like last October, I did four months of physical therapy with very little progress. I finally started meditating and I always go outside barefoot. I always do that and I hug a tree. I don't literally hug it, but I put my hands on the tree. I just started meditating and concentrating on my beautiful, healthy body. I did that for a week or two and I have to tell you the changes that I went that that did was unbelievable my shoulder. I also have reduced my medications doing that.

Speaker 4:

That's fantastic yeah.

Speaker 1:

I have also stopped body shaming. I didn't even realize I was, but I started looking at some of my habits and I realized I've been body shaming and all that stopped over a matter of a few weeks. That's all I did was just meditate on my beautiful, healthy body and it was miraculous I've got electricity going through me.

Speaker 4:

That's the sign Trust me.

Speaker 3:

Yes, that's the sign.

Speaker 4:

We'll get into that in episode three. You guys, the electricity that surrounds Allison that we all can only hope to get some sort of benefit from, it's pretty amazing. But we know when the electricity comes that there we are.

Speaker 1:

That's right, I'm speaking truth. What's interesting listening to y'all talk is and I really like those nine, the listing, mindy, when you listed the nine things oh yeah, when you look at that, so many people out there listening are going to go. That is just so overwhelming. How do you accomplish all of those things? And are all those things necessary to see a difference? I want to say they are not, because if you can just start somewhere, they all start to follow through, like the diet. Well, if you just do a spiritual connection on a regular basis, the dieting automatically comes into play. When so many things, when you do the emotional release, all of these things, that just makes you a healthier, a healthier spirit and body and soul. It starts you on the path. So people that feel overwhelmed by that do not be.

Speaker 4:

Oh no, those were just the common denominators that they all did. Now, did the diet come as a result of, like you said, having a spiritual connection? I'm sure it did. Those were just the nine common denominators that they found Right. But that doesn't mean that these people specifically went out and said, okay, I've changed my diet, I have to believe in God, I have to do this, I have to. No, yes, no, it was just. And that strong will to live, have a strong reason to survive this and not just survive it but live.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 4:

Why are those were common factors. I think they were all very much interlaced with each other, that one came as a result of the other, of the other. I agree with you, alison. Thank you so much for pointing that out. Yes, and I do think that Bethany had some really interesting points in what she was saying, and I'm pretty sure that meditation has what we're all talking about today. If you scroll through Instagram page you're on social media at all you will have these new diets right. Put that down, do this instead. You can't lose weight like that. Balance your hormones. But if you watch even a segment of anything, what they're saying is they're talking about reducing inflammation of the body.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 4:

Every single time it's like the new. It's the new bad. If you will, yes, but why can't you do that for free? And so that's what I'm.

Speaker 3:

so, Bethany, you want to talk about that a little bit. I would love to, mindy, because what Alison was talking about her shoulder, and that's what's going through my mind, right you? Probably it's an inflammation there, alison, with that shoulder, and the studies are now suggesting that regular meditation may have anti-inflammatory effects. I mean, how great is that? But down the aisle, you're profan, right I mean so. Yes, because vaccination is associated with various health problems and can compromise the immune system, and with meditation being able to reduce inflammation, that supports overall immune function. And again, according to Dr Daniel Aiman, not only is chronic inflammation linked to a range of health issues, but also there's autoimmune diseases that sadly, so many people are dealing with.

Speaker 1:

And Lycibermaeacea.

Speaker 3:

Oh, yes, yes, and rheumatoid arthritis, you can go on and on colitis, crohn's, all that, but yeah, you've got. But what they have found is that meditation practices literally reduce the markers of inflammation that are in the body. And I think we probably most of us have that lab work where we get that C-reactive protein or the high sensitive C-reactive protein, the C-reactive protein marker. There are a lot of us CRP. We get it measured. It's an indicator of overall inflammation in our body and what they did was they allowed people to meditate and then looked at these markers before and after and they came down just with meditation. So the great thing is is when you have lowered inflammation levels, it also contributes to a more balanced immune system. So what?

Speaker 3:

And I just found this last point so fascinating so we've talked about the ways that meditation strengthens the immune system, kind of peripherally right, less stress lowers inflammation. This part I am so excited to share that meditation may also influence the immune system. Okay, so I'm excited to share that meditation may also influence the immune system directly, meaning some research suggests that mindfulness, meditation and related practices can enhance the activity of something called natural killer cells or, in case cells, in case cells are a type of white blood cell that not only plays a role in our immune response, but it plays a crucial role in immune defense by targeting and destroying infected or cancerous cells. So stress, again, is a huge problem and this is why meditation is so important. So the natural, the natural killer cell activity is reduced by stress and therefore plays a role in the weakening of the immune system. So by meditating we simply boost the in case cell function and that results in an overall stronger immune system. I just thought that was fascinating, that it directly impacts those in case cells. So why?

Speaker 1:

I agree.

Speaker 4:

I am fascinated that you can take all this doctor talk and make it so we understand what you're saying. That's what fascinates me at this very moment in time. I have to tell you. Thank you, bethany, because so much of this information you guys is free and available. This is so much I mean, just it's free to try. So, instead of considering grabbing that 500 tablet bottle of ibuprofen, maybe there's a better alternative. Maybe yeah, I mean maybe you are taking a sleeping pill right now at night. Maybe you're taking an anti-anxiety pill. Maybe you're living with a diagnosis right now whether it is Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis.

Speaker 4:

My father ultimately, through his treatment of his rheumatoid arthritis is what ended his life. It destroyed his organs. He died of liver failure because these medications that we put in our body to hopefully help these other symptoms ultimately destroy other parts of us. I mean it is part of it. I always say that my father traded his length of life for his quality of life. I'm really understanding now and obviously would love to have known this back then, but he was on his own journey. Was that he could have had both? He could have had his cake and eat it too. There's just so much out there.

Speaker 3:

I'm sorry to interrupt, Mindy. I would love, if we have time, for Linda just to share her quick story on. We did a quick, like little, I would say meditative, guided meditation, wouldn't you say, Linda, with a group of women. We were just practicing our medical intuition, Linda was. They were nice enough to be volunteers, but we did a guided meditation and I'd like for you to share about that, Linda, if you would. Thank you.

Speaker 2:

I had the group of women just to get into a relaxed state In fact I'm not going to call it meditation so much, but it was. It was not deep by any means and just become relaxed. I had them walk through their body, relaxing each area, and have them just kind of feel into each part of their body. Apparently, when they, when it was over and they came out, they were all very excited about it. Some were saying that this most relaxed they'd been and since they could remember. And that's just one way it shows how much meditation, whether it's a guided or self meditation, is very helpful.

Speaker 2:

Something else I'd like to add into meditation is the imagination. That is also can be very crucial in helping the body to repair itself. A few months back I kind of stumbled into something. It just came into my mind one night that stem cell therapy is so useful and, bethany, I believe you have some experience with that. But I thought stem cells okay, they're all throughout the body. Why can't they be activated through the imagination?

Speaker 2:

So I've just there's some deep breathing, went into a light meditative state and I just allowed my stem cells to kick in and do whatever they do throughout my body. I went through all the different organs. I recovered the scan, everything, all the endocrine system, the lymphatic system. I just went through all of it. Well, now that since I've been practicing that, I've decided you don't have to go through the entire body. You just allow the stem cells to step forward energetically and do what they know how to do, and just know that it's working throughout the entire body. Now, if you choose to go through the body, that's fun to do because that's very relaxing, just to touch base with each system and each organ in the body. But this is something I've been doing daily now for maybe a month, so I will keep you informed as to how this happens. I'm hoping to see results, actual, tangible results in the body of things improving. So I do deal with skin cancer off and on.

Speaker 2:

So I've made sure that those stem cells are looking out after my skin, so I'll keep you updated on that.

Speaker 3:

I'd like to. I would just like to add to that one of the ladies that was in our group. She has peripheral neuropathy and I think most people might know that the tingling and pain from the nerve pain and the feet and the lower leg. And when she finished the relaxation she said it's not gone but it's much improved and she had been able to get really no relief and she may have even been on medication for it. We were like go home and keep this up. You may not get rid of something right, it may not cure it. We can't say that. But how about just give yourself better quality of life, just feel a little better? May not go completely away, but it can really improve. She was shocked when she came out of that kind of that little thing. It was only 10 minutes. When you say Linda, it was just a quick 10 minutes.

Speaker 2:

Probably 10 to 15. That was not very long, it's just like.

Speaker 3:

I can't believe how much better I already feel.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 2:

Thanks, linda. I just want to say that everyone has intuition and no one is exempt. It was built into the human template, but most people do not know this. Some people refer to it as having a knowingness in the gut. Others say I just felt it in my heart and I knew. Intuition can be received in many, many ways. When you suddenly have an inspiration out of the blue, that is your intuition. I'm asking every one of our listeners please just take notice of how their information comes in. Intuition does not go through the mind. You receive it in other ways. Just take notice. Thank, you.

Speaker 4:

Yes, awesome Alison. She's our source of, I would say, wisdom, and such that she's always got some parting thoughts. Anything from you today.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I'd just like to say that the change is made in you. No one can do it for you. Talking about doesn't doing it. You have to realize you want to change and then you start working for that change. It will be worth it, absolutely.

Speaker 4:

Well, I think, on that note, it's time to say goodbye, and I can't think of a better way to leave you guys with two amazing parting messages. Thank you, alison, thank you, linda and thank you, bethany, very much for putting the doctor into all of this. We really appreciate having our listeners understand exactly what it is that we need and why it's important and the value that it has. So thank you so much.

Speaker 2:

Thank you, Mindy.

Speaker 3:

Yes, thank you ladies, that was just fun, it was fun.

Speaker 4:

Bye everybody, bye-bye, bye, Bye, bye.
